Crown Defense and its partners are leaders in both diesel and electric utility vehicles in the mining and defense sector. For over 12 years at its facility in Aberdeen NC, USA. Crown Defense has been “ruggedizing” and customizing Land Cruisers to make them more safe, durable, and ready for use in humanitarian operations. Crown Defense has a tremendous reputation in the market with its customers for providing reliable and durable equipment and the custom work can include such items as changing the axles, adding fire suppression, speed controllers, camera systems, enhanced wiring, bumpers, lighting, and other safety features.
Since its inception, Crown Defense has been an innovator. Starting with the LC76 and then the LC79. Crown Defense has continued to bring new and innovative vehicles and modifications to the market. In the past few years, Crown Defense and its partners have had 2 major battle electric vehicle (BEV) successes. The first was a new build from scratch of the LC79, a highly advanced and proprietary BEV and the THOR EV has made Crown Defense and its partners recognized OEMs in the BEV sector. The second was the modification of a BEV conversion kit, to convert a diesel Land Cruiser to an electric Land Cruiser, for heavy duty-cycle operations.
For the LC70 BEVs, Crown Defense and its partners currently utilize Huber Automotive’s E-Drive Kit for the base conversion. Crown Defense and its partners further modify the vehicle to meet the specifications of its customers, taking into account such factors in their heavy-duty cycles as operating topology and/or temperatures, range, and charging infrastructure.
Crown Defense and its partners will continue to innovate as it moves forward. Firstly to electrify an early model muscle car and secondly to develop a universal conversion kit to be able to convert a much larger number of utility vehicles from diesel to electric and to allow this modular kit to be more adaptive to the continually evolving battery, cooling, and other vehicle technologies. Lastly, all of our upcoming projects will be built for BEVs but will be developed with a longer-term view of swapping out the batteries for hydrogen fuel cells.
